APC & Fee Policy
Article Processing Charge (APC)
Global Insights in Public and Preventive Health (GIPPH) operates under a full open-access publishing model. To support editorial management, peer review, production, digital archiving, and platform maintenance, an Article Processing Charge (APC) is applied to accepted manuscripts.
- APC Amount: USD 500 per accepted manuscript
- No submission or peer-review fees
- APC is payable only after successful peer review and final editorial acceptance
Waiver Policy
GIPPH is committed to fairness, inclusivity, and equitable access to scholarly publishing. APC waivers or discounts may be granted after editorial acceptance and before APC payment.
1. Quality-Based Waiver
- A full APC waiver may be granted to exceptional, high-quality manuscripts demonstrating strong scientific merit or significant public health impact
- Other accepted manuscripts may be eligible for:
- Partial APC waiver
- Discounted APC (typically 50%–75%)
2. Financial Hardship Waiver
Authors experiencing genuine financial constraints, including those from low-resource or underserved settings, may request an APC waiver.
- Waiver requests must be submitted after acceptance and before APC payment
- Requests are evaluated by the editorial office based on manuscript quality, fairness, and journal policy
- All waiver decisions are final
Withdrawal Policy
GIPPH allows authors to withdraw manuscripts under the following conditions:
1. Withdrawal Within 5 Days of Submission
- Free withdrawal with no charges
- A written withdrawal request must be submitted by the corresponding author
2. Withdrawal After 5 Days of Submission
- A minimal withdrawal fee may be charged to cover:
- Editorial screening
- Reviewer coordination
- Administrative processing
3. Withdrawal After Acceptance
- If a manuscript is withdrawn after acceptance, the full APC must be paid
- This reflects the completion of peer review, editorial assessment, and production preparation
Retraction Policy
GIPPH follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for handling retractions to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
1. Author-Initiated Retraction (After Publication)
If authors request retraction after publication, a retraction fee may apply due to:
- Impact on the journal’s academic record
- Administrative updates to indexing and archiving systems
- Ethical evaluation and publication of a formal retraction notice
2. Journal-Initiated Retraction
If the journal retracts an article due to:
- Ethical violations
- Serious quality concerns
- Unintentional but significant errors
No retraction fee is charged to the authors.
Policy Transparency
- APCs do not influence editorial decisions
- Editorial acceptance is based solely on scientific quality, originality, and ethical compliance
- All policies related to APCs, waivers, withdrawals, and retractions are applied fairly, consistently, and transparently
