Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Global Insights in Public and Preventive Health (GIPPH)

The Global Insights in Public and Preventive Health (GIPPH) is an open access, peer-reviewed journal. To maintain high-quality publication standards and provide free access to research, the journal charges Article Processing Charges (APCs).

1. APC Details

  • Standard APC: 500 USD for all article types (Original Research, Reviews, Policy Briefs / Reports, etc.)
  • APC is payable after manuscript acceptance and prior to publication.
  • The APC covers the cost of:
    • Journal website maintenance and hosting
    • Submission and peer-review management tools
    • DOI (Digital Object Identifier) assignment for each article
    • Professional copyediting, formatting, and typesetting
    • Compensation for reviewers and editorial office support
    • Long-term digital archiving and indexing support

Note: GIPPH does not receive external funding from societies or universities; APC is necessary to sustain high-quality open access publication and maintain journal operations.

2. Waiver Policy

To ensure inclusivity and support for authors from low-income regions, GIPPH offers the following waivers:

  • 50% discount for authors from low-income countries (as defined by the World Bank)
  • 100% waiver for high-quality manuscripts originating from low-income countries
  • Inaugural Issue Discount: 50% discount for the first three issues published in GIPPH

Authors requesting waivers must indicate their eligibility during submission. The editorial office evaluates waiver requests based on the journal’s waiver policy.

3. APC Payment and Refund Policy

  • APC is non-refundable under any circumstances, including withdrawal or rejection after acceptance.
  • Authors may withdraw their manuscript within 2 days of submission without payment.
  • After the initial 2-day window, manuscripts withdrawn will not qualify for any refund.

Rationale for APC:

GIPPH charges APCs to support:

  1. Open Access Publication: Making research freely available to the global scientific community without subscription barriers.
  2. Editorial Workflow and Tools: Costs for peer review systems, submission platforms, and digital publication infrastructure.
  3. Professional Services: Copyediting, formatting, typesetting, and quality assurance.
  4. Reviewer Compensation and Editorial Support: Encouraging timely and thorough peer review.
  5. Digital Object Identifier (DOI) Registration and Indexing: Ensuring permanent access, discoverability, and future indexing in platforms like Google Scholar, DOI, and other major databases.

4. Author Responsibilities

  • Authors must agree to pay the APC once the manuscript is accepted.
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that funding or institutional support is available, if applicable.
  • Authors must provide accurate information for invoices and contact details.
