The formulation of poultry feed using different categories of food and crop waste for economic and environmental sustainability

Abstract
In Bangladesh, we are living in an era of unprecedented population growth. To feed the overpopulation on earth, particularly in Bangladesh, the immediate response often is to ramp up the production throughout the country. The cultivable land is decreasing drastically for abrupt industrialization, urbanization, road transportation etc. Moreover, the increased production and industrialization of agricultural sector generate lot of waste products which is the cause of environmental challenges. Therefore, this article aims to arrange the current knowledge on utilization of these nutrition rich waste products to formulate poultry feed as poultry is the mostly consumed affordable protein nutrition in the world. But the rising costs of poultry feed creates a significant challenge for farmers worldwide, impacting the profitability and sustainability of poultry production. Hence, this article describes the conversion of different categories of food and crop waste into poultry feed, their effect on health and performance of birds, safety and challenges of the formulated feed product and different country's initiative to use food and agricultural wastes as feed to maintain the economic and environmental sustainability.
